STEM directory

A new directory that identifies opportunities for women and girls to get exposure to science, technology and engineering is now available.  The directory identifies initiatives, programmes and associations through which young girls and women can "connect, discover and learn" about science, technology and engineering.

People with science, technology and engineering qualifications are in demand, yet in New Zealand, women make up just 23 percent of people employed in IT and about 13 percent of people employed as engineers.

Policy Director Margaret Retter said the Ministry hopes this list of initiatives will assist young women and girls to learn more about what is available in New Zealand.
