Ngā wāhine kaipakihi: He tirohanga

To celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Women's Suffrage in New Zealand, the Len Lye Centre Cinema presents a series of films to celebrate this momentous occasion. 

Art, photography and political cartoons from The New Zealand Graphic and Ladies' Journal circa 1890’s. Urban Art presents a unique exhibition from one of the last remaining sets of the publication. 

Four semi‐permanent public art works are being developed for Tāmaki Makaurau to commemorate Suffrage 125. The works are to be located at Pukekohe, Howick, Onehunga and Takapuna, each with ties to the suffrage movement.  

To commemorate Suffrage 125, artist Peata Larkin (Tūhourangi, Ngāti Whakaue and Tūwharetoa) has been commissioned by Auckland Council to create a lighting programme for Te Ara I Whiti - The Lightpath.

We’re celebrating another New Zealand woman of influence in September. This mini-exhibition celebrates Kate Sheppard, pioneer of the suffrage movement in New Zealand, through her own treasured items.

What would you do if you found Kate Sheppard in your bed? This irreverent comedy is about what happens when two young women come face-to-face with five trailblazing wāhine from Aotearoa's history.
