In this talk, Jane Tolerton explores how the feminist 1890s fuelled female ambition and how this was expressed in the fight for suffrage and in the 1914–1918 war. 

‘This Joyous, Chaotic Place’ is a multi-media exhibition to celebrate poet Heather McPherson (1942-2017) and her peers in the national women’s art and literature movement of the 1970s and 1980s. Funded by Creative New Zealand.
