International Women's Day bike ride
Come and join Minister for Women, Julie Anne Genter MP, and Wellington Deputy Mayor, Jill Day, for a lunchtime bike ride to celebrate International Women's Day.
We’re taking the opportunity of International Women’s Day to highlight how transport planning has often forgotten the needs of women, and how this needs to change. In countries with protected bike lanes, more women feel safe riding a bike.
Wellington City Council is building more separated bike paths to make it easier for people to cycle, walk, and scoot around the city.
We’ll be setting off from Freyberg Pool & Fitness Centre at midday and heading to Frank Kitts Park. So get on your bike (or hire one from the many options in Wellington), or join us on foot. Babies in strollers most certainly welcome.
Don't forget your helmet!
You can register your interest for the event on the Ministry's Facebook page.
