National Action Plan on Women Peace and Security

Public consultation has now closed on the New Zealand Government's draft National Action Plan for the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolution 1325 relating to Women, Peace and Security. Submissions closed Wednesday 20 May 2015.

The draft Plan promotes efforts to empower women and to combat violence against women in conflict-affected countries where New Zealand has an existing development programme or other form of direct leverage. This includes programmes supporting leadership of women and women’s participation in peace-making and conflict prevention. It also relates to international deployability of senior staff within the New Zealand Defence Force and New Zealand Police.
