Successful applicants for the Manatū Wāhine Physical Activity and Wellbeing Fund have now been confirmed. A total of 123 not-for-profit organisations will receive financial support for community-led initiatives that improve women and girls’ access to sport and active recreation activities to support their wider wellbeing.

Investment for the fund has come from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment as part of its work to maximise the impacts and benefits of the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™.

The contestable fund was launched on 1 May as part of the government’s leverage and legacy programme for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™. It was originally capped at $500,000, but due to the high number of applications, an additional $500,000 of investment was provided for a total of $1 million.
