Preparing all young people for satisfying and rewarding working lives is an important issue to explore. We are seeking your views on possible future directions for system-level changes to help prepare all young people for satisfying and rewarding working lives.
Your views will inform a draft Long-term Insights Briefing prepared jointly by the Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Education, Ministry for Women and Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment. The briefing is being prepared independently of Ministers and is not Government policy.
We want to hear from you, whether you are a young person, a parent, employer, training provider, youth coach, youth service provider, or employer of young people.
Although many young people successfully navigate transitions from school to work, further education or training, a significant proportion of young people experience persistent barriers which prevent them from reaching their employment goals and aspirations. This is a longstanding and complex policy challenge with multi-generational consequences.
The final Briefing will be a knowledge base to help Government to respond more effectively in the future to support young people’s employment goals and aspirations, and as a public resource and evidence base.
We are seeking feedback on the possible future directions for system-level changes identified in the briefing.
You can find out more about this work, read the briefing, and provide your views through a short survey.
The consultation opens on Monday 12 September and will remain open until Sunday 9 October 2022.
