The purpose of this study was to find out what motivates women and men to study engineering and to learn about their post-graduation experiences. The findings of this study came from an online survey and interviews of engineering graduates from 2000-2005.
The findings showed that women and men decided to study engineering for similar reasons but despite this women were presented with less information about engineering as a career. There were also gendered differences in pay with men earning more than women, and different experiences with workplace culture. The findings of the study indicate many potentially useful areas of follow-up research in this area.
