Every five years, States who have adopted the Declaration report to the United Nations about their progress towards implementing the principles of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action in areas such as health, justice, education, social development, and foreign policy. 

This national-level review outlines Aotearoa New Zealand’s progress to implement the Declaration over the last five years across all 12 critical areas of concern.

Information from New Zealand’s ninth periodic United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) report, submitted in July 2023, was used as the foundation for this national-level review, as both cover a similar range of issues.
