Te Mahere Whai Mahi Wāhine Women’s Employment Action Plan (WEAP) was launched in June 2022. In August 2024, the Government released the Employment Action Plan, a vision for the labour market to support people into work and lift economic outcomes for New Zealand, which superseded the WEAP.
The Ministry is focused on raising women’s economic empowerment and progressing key work that began under the WEAP, including reducing the gender pay gap, improving women’s retirement outcomes, supporting gender investment, and supporting women in trade.
