Manatū Wāhine Ministry for Women congratulates Norie Ape who has been selected as the non-governmental delegate to join the official NZ Government delegation to the sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67) from 6 – 17 March 2023. 

CSW is held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York each year; it is recognised as the highest-level international forum on gender equality and women's empowerment. This will be the first in-person delegation from New Zealand to CSW since 2019 and you can find more information on CSW67 on the UN Women website.

  • Priority theme: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls
  • Review theme: Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls (agreed conclusions of the sixty-second session)

About Norie

Norie Ape is a Samoan born, Auckland raised, Digital Product Manager at Te Pūkenga. In this role, Norie focuses on utilising technology to enable better outcomes in vocational education in New Zealand with priority groups including Māori, Pasifika and disabled learners. 

Norie has experience in the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors and is passionate about increasing the number of Pasifika & Māori Women in Tech. 

Norie will provide the government delegation with high-level advice on the themes and liaise with non-governmental organisations across Aotearoa.
