As we approach International Women’s Day on 8 March, we're encouraging everyone to join us and help reduce New Zealand’s gender pay gap!
This year’s International Women's Day themes are "For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment" and "Accelerate Action". They call for all of us to take bold steps in addressing this persistent issue.
What you can do
- Come along to one of our roadshow events if you're in Wellington or Auckland! More details below.
- Share the actions your organisation is taking to reduce its gender pay gap on your website, newsletters, and social media.
- Use and share the Ministry for Women’s social media tiles to support the campaign. You can download the assets below to use and customise with your own logo or image. We've provided some exemplars in the ZIP file below on what you could do.
- Tag the Ministry for Women in your social media posts so that we can follow action being taken and celebrate you taking action. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

The gender pay gap in New Zealand has reduced steadily from 16.3% in 1998, but progress has slowed. It is currently 8.2% (as at 30 June 2024).

Attend a Gender Pay Gap Roadshow!
The Minister for Women, Hon Nicola Grigg, kicked off the first of her roadshows in Queenstown at the start of February and spoke to businesses about what was needed to take action and close the gender pay gap. There are two roadshows coming up where you can hear from the Minister and local businesses about how we can take action on the gender pay gap.
